At least one person was confirmed killed, and two others wounded in a shooting took place on Monday in the central town of Jalalaqsi in Hiiran region, witnesses said.
The unfortunate incident happened after a government soldier has opened fire at crowd in the town, which is currently under SNA and AMISOM forces’ control.
The murder has sparked an outrage by local residents who took to the main streets, in protest of the civilian shooting and called on local authorities to arrest the killer.
The soldier was reported to be at large, after escaping from the scene after the shooting of the civilians, according to the eyewitnesses who spoke to Radio Shabelle via phone.
The town has been beset by a long-running blockade since it was retaken by Somali and African Union forces from the Al Qaeda-affiliated Al shabaab in 2014.
